When you walk into the Fairmont Chateau Laurier, you immediately feel the weight of history. This hotel, built in 1912, has an exterior resembling a grand European castle, and it’s located in an excellent spot, just steps away from Parliament Hill and ByWard Market. You can easily walk to many of Ottawa’s iconic landmarks from here.

During my stay, I loved the elegant atmosphere of the hotel. The interior is richly decorated with a royal touch, and the service is impeccable. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the view from my window was simply stunning — I could see the Ottawa River and Parliament Hill. If you want to experience a luxurious stay with a mix of history and modernity, the Fairmont Chateau Laurier is definitely a must-try.

Tip: If you’re visiting Ottawa in the winter, don’t miss the hotel’s indoor pool — especially on cold days, it’s a true escape.

2. Andaz Ottawa Byward Market – A Perfect Blend of Modernity and Style

If you prefer a more modern and stylish stay, Andaz Ottawa Byward Market is my top recommendation. Located in one of Ottawa’s liveliest areas, ByWard Market, it’s surrounded by plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops. The hotel’s design is contemporary, with minimalist and artistic touches throughout.

One of my favorite features of this hotel is its rooftop bar, where you can enjoy stunning views of Ottawa’s skyline, especially at sunset — the scenery is breathtaking. The rooms are spacious, modern, and equipped with comfortable beds, making it an ideal place for both relaxation and exploration. If you’re looking for a stylish and convenient hotel, Andaz Ottawa is an excellent choice.

Tip: The hotel’s popular restaurant offers delicious dishes made with local ingredients. Be sure to give it a try.

If you prefer a classic hotel with a great location, the Lord Elgin Hotel is a fantastic option. Located in downtown Ottawa, this hotel is just a short walk away from Parliament Hill and the National Arts Centre, making it perfect for sightseeing. If you plan to visit Ottawa’s main attractions, this hotel is ideal.

The rooms are simple and comfortable, equipped with all the necessary amenities, and the price is relatively reasonable. What I appreciated most was the service — the staff were very friendly and helpful. During my stay, they provided detailed travel information, helping me plan my itinerary.

Tip: There are plenty of great restaurants near the hotel. If you’re craving local cuisine, just walk around the corner and you’ll find some amazing options.

4. The Westin Ottawa – A Perfect Choice for Business and Leisure

For business travelers, The Westin Ottawa is an ideal choice. Located in the heart of downtown, close to Rideau Canal and ByWard Market, it offers excellent amenities for both work and relaxation. The room I stayed in was very modern, with a spacious work area and a comfortable bed, making it perfect for balancing work and downtime.

The hotel also features a fitness center and an indoor pool, which allowed me to unwind after a busy day of meetings. Additionally, it offers business services such as meeting rooms and high-speed internet, making it perfect for corporate travelers.

Tip: If it’s your first time in Ottawa, take a walk along the Rideau Canal right after you check in. The views are spectacular.

5. Ottawa Marriott Hotel – Comfort and Value for Money

For travelers on a budget, Ottawa Marriott Hotel offers great value for money. Located in downtown Ottawa, it’s close to major attractions like Parliament Hill and the National Gallery of Canada. The rooms are comfortable and well-equipped, providing excellent amenities for a reasonable price.
